Professional Movers.com is a full service moving company serving people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. As a result, we are often recognized as Michigan’s most trusted and referred LGBT friendly moving company.
We realize that our continued success as an organization is dependent on our understanding and satisfying the various needs of the diverse communities in which we operate. This year, Professional Movers.com had an exhibit at the Motor City Pride to celebrate the lives of Michigan’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender citizens. Our very own LGBT Moving Consultant, Daniel Rickenback, was on-site providing free moving advice and promoting Professional Movers.com Lifestyle initiatives. For over a quarter of a century, we have redefined the moving industry by creating a company wide culture that values a compassionate connection with our customers. We take the time to understand our customers needs and we provide solutions that save’s them money, relieves their stress, and transforms their perception of what to expect from a professional moving company. The very fabric of a company’s culture must start at the top of an organization and trickle down. That is why Andrew Androff, Co-owner and managing director of Professional Movers.com is a national member of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). PFLAG is a national non-profit organization determined to promote the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. What is the Straight for Equality Pledge?
It is a pledge for straight allies who are committed to supporting and advocating for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people sign.
The pledge says that an ally will:
Come out.
I will acknowledge and work on any uncertainties I may have in “coming out” as a straight ally, and, as I grow in confidence, I’ll increasingly let my family, friends, and colleagues know that I support equality for LGBT people.
Speak up.
Whenever I have an opportunity, I’ll say something supportive of LGBT people, whether I’m responding to a homophobic joke or remark, commenting positively about a current event, or making the case for equality in a discussion.
Join in.
I will review the many recommended actions provided through Straight for Equality that will help me create change in big and small ways and incorporate those with which I am comfortable into my growth as a straight ally to help move equality forward.
